Getting my New Car
It's was one of the success stories after getting a job. I was so excited to buy a brand new car for the first time in my life. After waiting for almost four months I finally got the call from Zimdra office that my car has reached Phuentsholing. They asked me if I want them to deliver in Thimphu.
I said I will get from Phuentsholing. It wasn't because I want to cost cut it but I really want to show to my parents. My Apa to would be so proud to drive his son's brand new car.
It was during the Phuentsholing lockdown, I had nerve racking calls and request to get my car. Finally, my aunty got the car from showroom and Apa got from her.
It was another challenge to cross Sorchen Checkpoint where vehicles would transit. More than the car, I was so excited to see my parents. Ever since COVID restrictions started I could not go home.
Luckily my friend Aman had Bolero which I got instant help to go till Sorchen. We head for Sorchen in the early Sunday morning from Thimphu hoping to get the car and see my parents.
Finally, we made it to Sorchen where I could finally see my village. After exchange of calls Ama said the car has been senitized and ready to transit. I carried gift I bought from Thimphu and ran like a child to see my parents.
After a kilometer of distance running with excitement, I finally saw my parents waving. I desperately wanted to meet and talk but the police in charge asked me to get inside the car and move.
It was during that very moment, I felt getting a new car was nothing than to see my parents waving me with pride. I felt broke deep inside that I could not even talk properly with Apa and Ama. Could not ask how was my car. All I could hear was both of them yelling drive safe. Call them when I reach Thimphu.
With heavy heart, I got inside the car and the police in charge wished me "Ya Tashidelek mey" I replied with smile inside my mask "Kadrinche la Lobey"
I started my car and drove slowly thinking why on earth this Covid has to come. Even though I could hear a new soft engine sound, the picture of Apa and Ama waving at me kept coming in my mind. I felt like my parents locked up behind a wall.
Nothing in the world matters more than the love of parents.
